Snakehead

Sister Tse is a young Chinese woman who arrives in New York as an undocumented migrant, hoping to build a better life and reunite with her daughter, who was taken from her years earlier. However, the American dream quickly turns into a nightmare when she is trapped in a human trafficking network run by powerful criminal organizations known as “snakeheads.”

Forced to work off her debt for the journey, Sister Tse becomes involved in the very system that controls the smuggling of migrants between Asia and the United States. Over time, she demonstrates determination and ruthlessness that allow her to rise through the ranks of the organization, earning both respect and fear.

Played by Jade Wu, Sister Tse becomes an increasingly ambiguous figure: from victim to potential predator, all while pursuing her primary goal of finding her daughter and achieving true freedom. Each decision, however, pulls her deeper into a world of violence, betrayal, and fragile alliances.

As tensions between rival gangs and law enforcement escalate, Sister Tse must balance survival, power, and humanity in an environment where trust is extremely rare and freedom comes at a very high price.

Sister Tse è una giovane donna cinese che arriva a New York come migrante irregolare, sperando di ricostruirsi una vita migliore e ritrovare la figlia che le è stata sottratta anni prima. Tuttavia, il sogno americano si trasforma rapidamente in un incubo quando viene intrappolata in una rete di traffico di esseri umani gestita da potenti organizzazioni criminali note come “snakehead”.
