The Piper is a South Korean horror film inspired by the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, reimagined in a dark and dramatic way.
Set in the 1950s after the Korean War, the story follows a man and his son who arrive at a remote mountain village plagued by a severe rat infestation.

La storia è ambientata negli anni ’50, poco dopo la guerra di Corea. Un uomo e suo figlio arrivano in un villaggio isolato tra le montagne, apparentemente tranquillo ma afflitto da una grave infestazione di ratti.
L’uomo si offre di risolvere il problema in cambio di una ricompensa, utilizzando le sue abilità musicali per attirare e sterminare i roditori. Il villaggio accetta, ma una volta liberato dal problema, gli abitanti rifiutano di mantenere la promessa.
Quello che segue è una lenta e inquietante discesa nell’orrore: il protagonista, tradito e umiliato, decide di vendicarsi. La situazione degenera in un incubo, dove superstizione, paura e crudeltà umana prendono il sopravvento.
