Jack Mosley is a weary New York City detective who has become physically worn out and deeply disillusioned with his career. After years on the job, he has turned cynical and is simply trying to make it through each shift without trouble. His life changes suddenly when he is assigned what seems like a simple task: escort Eddie Bunker, a witness, from the precinct to the courthouse just 16 blocks away.

Eddie is a small-time criminal who has witnessed incriminating evidence and is set to testify against corrupt members of law enforcement. From the start, however, it becomes clear that many people do not want him to make it to court alive. During the short journey, Jack and Eddie are intercepted by armed men attempting to eliminate the witness before he can speak.

Forced to flee and change routes, the two find themselves trapped in a hostile city where every corner hides danger and corruption reaches deep into the police force. Jack, initially reluctant and indifferent, is gradually forced to take a stand as his buried sense of justice resurfaces.

As the hours pass, what was meant to be a simple transfer becomes a race against time through the streets of New York, where trust and survival become inseparable. Jack must choose between protecting the system that has worn him down or risking everything to give Eddie a chance to survive and tell the truth.

Jack Mosley è un detective della polizia di New York ormai stanco, fuori forma e profondamente disilluso dalla propria carriera. Dopo anni di servizio, è diventato un uomo cinico che cerca solo di arrivare a fine turno senza problemi. La sua vita cambia improvvisamente quando gli viene affidato un compito apparentemente semplice: scortare un testimone, Eddie Bunker, dal commissariato fino al tribunale distante appena 16 isolati.

Eddie è un piccolo criminale che ha assistito a fatti compromettenti e deve testimoniare contro alcuni membri corrotti delle forze dell’ordine. Fin da subito, però, appare chiaro che molte persone non vogliono che arrivi vivo in tribunale. Durante il breve tragitto, Jack e Eddie vengono intercettati da uomini armati che cercano di eliminarlo prima che possa parlare.

Costretti a fuggire e a cambiare percorso, i due si ritrovano intrappolati in una città ostile, dove ogni angolo può nascondere una minaccia e dove la corruzione arriva fino ai livelli più alti della polizia. Jack, inizialmente riluttante e disinteressato, si trova gradualmente costretto a prendere posizione, mentre il suo senso di giustizia sopito riemerge.

Con il passare delle ore, quello che doveva essere un semplice trasferimento si trasforma in una corsa contro il tempo attraverso le strade di New York, dove fiducia e sopravvivenza diventano inseparabili. Jack dovrà scegliere tra proteggere il sistema che lo ha logorato o rischiare tutto per garantire a Eddie una possibilità di sopravvivere e dire la verità.
